My Uncle Brian Treated me as an Adult

It seems like just yesterday that I was an 8-10 year old kid spending time with my Uncle Brian more as a "Friend"  than an nephew.

Brian used to take me to stand in the door way of the Arlington Hotel later at night to listen to the latest Band playing there....Brian was so enthusiastic about most things but especially Music. The most memorable band that I remember was the Mystics....Brian loved this band so much....

....after the Arlington we'd go back to the Collingwood Wensley Home and clean up seeping sewage that usually ended up in the basement during/after Rain Storms and Brian would teach me about the ineptness of Governments in General and the The Town of Collingwood specifically and how to deal with same....a skill I still use to this very day and every time I do I reflect on lessons learned in the Basement of that house on Simcoe Street.

The other skill I learned from Brian was caring for my front Lawn and how it was important to have the Best Lawn on the street if the City or Town...I was so impressed by the way he cared for his lawn so meticulously...when I care for my own lawn to this day I think of Brian....

Some summers I would spend weeks with Brian, Pat and the kids while working cutting Asparagus or whatever and spending time being part of their family. Brian and Pat were great parents...and this shows clearly with their kids and my cousins Craig and Chris

Brian(Pat) always drove big beautiful Buicks in the early days which also impressed me to the point that my first car was a 1976 Buick LeSabre...I always thought that they were the safest cars on the road because they were so big that if you ever got into an accident you wouldn't find out about it for about a week...

Brian used to poke fun at many Professional/Russian Hockey players as well. For example....he used to cram his head into Craig or Chris' little Hockey Helmut and then start imitating the Russians.....

....or he would pretend that he was fixing his Shoulder Pad, slapping his shoulder hard like Ron Ellis used to do...and there were others...too many to recall....but all funny...

....we used to take car rides to Wasaga Beach many evenings' when you used to be able to drive right on the Beach, and to this day I am impressed by how many Bikini Clad Beautiful Women that Uncle Brian knew as he said "Hi there" to all of them while my Aunt Pat "rolled her eyes" and said "Oh Brian" sitting next to him in the Front seat of that Big Buick....

....and if Craig or Chris would request and Ice Cream Cone from the Back seat...Brian would say "No but it was nice of you to ask"...but that was a joke too and the Ice cream would usually follow....

...If I thought about it long enough I could likely write a book about my Uncle (and Aunt and Cousins) whom I always did and always will Love Dearly...as for the Lessons Learned from my Uncle Brian they have been passed on and they will continue to be be for generations to come....

Rest In Peace Brian until we hopefully meet again...

Love Mike, Carole, Danielle, Jamie
