Condolence: My deepest condolences to the LaChance family.
From the time I was 8 years old until the LaChance move to Craigleith, I was welcomed into the home in Don Mills which rapidly became my second home as eldest daughter,Jean, became my best friend. I have so many wonderful memories of Gerry...her kindness, great wit, humour, intellect, facility with language; her stories and laughter accompanying that melodious voice and especially her way of making me, a very shy young girl, feel at ease. Meals at her home were a lively affair with everyone talking at the table, telling stories and debating. It was a new and refreshing experience for me, having been used to mostly silent meals (apart from the obligatory "what did you do in school today?") in my own home up the street, to be immersed in a loving, harmonious, life-embracing family. I loved going to that house and being part of the family, albeit in a small way. In later years, I continued to enjoy visits with Gerry and Bill in Craigleith when I went to visit Jean in Thornbury. I was forever in awe of Gerry. I'm glad that she lived a long, fulfilling and rich life. May her family have solace in their treasured memories.

Condolence: The LaChance family offered mine a warm welcome to Craigleith Ski Club, doubtless Gerry's influence imbued in their children, especially Tony and Allan.
I envied their lifestyle on the C&C 39; - it was obviously a very full life.
Fair winds on your cruise homeward bound.

Condolence: Pippa and I enjoyed our time with Gerry so much - on 3 great bridge cruises (Caribbean/Panama Canal, Hawaii and Spain), at her weekly Friday game in Collingwood and at super celebrations at her and Bill's home and nearby. Gerry was one of the world's happy and giving people and we will miss her very much. Sadly we will both be in the City on Wednesday and we send Bill and her family our sincerest condolences.

Condolence: Bill and Dear Family of Gerry

I knew Gerry for about a couple of years as a young teacher just coming onto the staff of Leaside High School in 1977. Gerry was teaching Phys. Ed and later was in the Guidance department.
I will remember Gerry's easiness with people. She was able to calm the students but at the same time demand that each student do the best that they could.
She was an excellent mentor for a young teacher and I owe a lot to those first teachers for my own career of 36 years at Leaside.
Farewell friend. My condolences Bill and family. Pat Baker
