Obituary for Margaret Weber

Margaret Ann Weber
(nee Cochrane)
1934-2018

Regrettably, the family of Margaret Weber announce her peaceful passing late on Sunday August 5, 2018 at Sunset Manor in Collingwood, ON with her husband by her side. She leaves behind children Michael, Christine (Jim), Stephen (Rhonda) and Robert (Kristin) and her husband of 60 years, Douglas. Margaret was also a loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren; Melanie (Phil), Amanda, Lauren, Elise, Brianna, Alexandra and Mitchell.
Marg was born in Galt, ON in 1934 and lived near Ayr, ON in her early years. She and her family subsequently moved to Paris, ON where she met Douglas at the local high school. Doug never could get over his good luck and quickly fell in love with this beautiful young lady.
Marg graduated in Nursing from Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and continued her studies in Hospital Administration at the University of Western Ontario in 1957. Marg and Doug married in 1958. Known in the family as Mrs. Organizer, she quickly established herself as the “go-to person” if anything was missing, lost or forgotten. With four children close in age this ability was a necessity. Marg devoted herself to her family and prided herself in their accomplishments. Volunteering at the General and Marine Hospital was also one of Marg’s joys as was hosting dinner parties for her friends. Marg loved sports, playing golf as a member at Blue Mountain Golf Course in Collingwood along with tennis at the various courts in town. Downhill and Cross-country skiing were also enjoyed, along with long walks on the Escarpment. Marg was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Collingwood. Cremation has taken place with interment to follow. Douglas and family would like to thank the fabulous staff at Sunset Manor for their compassionate care and support. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday August 25, 2018 with visitation one hour prior at the First Presbyterian Church at 200 Maple St. Collingwood. Donations may be made to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation.
