Obituary for Michael Porter

Michael Kelk Porter (July 14, 1945- June 14, 2018) Mike passed away, at the age of 72, after a heroic 8 month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Mike, son of John and Phyllis (Kelk) Porter, was born and raised in Toronto, ON. He attended Upper Canada College with continued studies at the University of Western Ontario Business School, making life long friends along the way. An entrepeneur pursuing many business opportunities, he eventually retired in Collingwood, ON. Mike loved to ski; boat the waters of Georgian Bay, at his cottage in Killarney, ON; walk the beaches of Southern Florida and enjoy a glass of good Cabernet Sauvignon. Mike’s clear blue eyes and beautiful smile lit up a room. Mike is survived by his wife of 40 years, Deb Porter (nee Austin); his children Blair (Zach) Brajuha, Austin (Nicole) Porter and Jeffrey Porter; and his grandchildren Kaia, Finn and Axel. Mike was a kind and caring husband, father and friend to many. The Porter Family will never be the same without him. Mike will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Memorial donations in Mike’s name would be appreciated at RVH’s Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.
