Condolences

Condolence From: ross
Condolence: 35 & 36 Firth Crescent were the addresses of the Brieithaut’s and Jarvis’s.
Eric and Paul Breithaupt became neighbours when they and mother, Jean moved in across from us (Ross and Lynne Jarvis) and an attachment of eternal kindred spirits was born. We all played guitar. We all sang, no one as well as Paul, but wherever we went, the three of us could draw a crowd. We three gathered every weekend of every summer at our little cottage in Haliburton where we sang and laughed till dawn every weekend. The Breithaupt boys became part of the Jarvis family and often spent weekends at our cottage whether we were there or not. Paul’s college friend, Craig Waddell, the banjo player from Montreal, became a permanent member of the group when he moved to Toronto after school. Two ad guys, an architect and an eventual sky Pilot. What a gang.
No one will ever forget the rainy night in Minden that we walked into the Dominion Hotel with all of our instruments and started singing folk songs of the day. The rival bar emptied and we were now Minden-famous. One can’t do much better than that on a July weekend.
Or the weekend we trained down to Montreal for Bill Gaul’s stag and started a sing-along in Montreal’s train station while waiting for Bill to pick us up. Bill said he didn’t have any trouble finding us; just looked for the gathered crowd.
Paul became the Creative Director of an ad agency, and no one was better equipped to lead a creative department. New ideas bounced out of Paul as fast as he could speak. And as we all know, Paul could talk up a storm at the drop of a hat.
Paul had a sense of humour that knew no bounds. I travelled with him from Toronto to London, England and remember laughing almost for the whole trip. Paul was a natural performer.
In the recent past, Paul made a habit of calling after a few at odd hours of the night. I would answer the phone and Paul would be singing songs of our past glory. He brought back some of the best memories of our lives. He never stopped entertaining.
I will miss Paul. He was one of the highlights of my life.

Condolence From: Brian & Diane McKay
Condolence: To Family and Friends;

Diane and I were blessed to have met and enjoyed Paul at his best of good humour and wit, especially with reference to Fran and life experience. Our hope is that his passing was peaceful and in the company of those who appreciate his gifts to life in our world of hope yet to be realized.

Best wishes;
Brian & Diane McKay
