Obituary for James Haggan

James (Jimmy) Bennett Haggan passed away peacefully in the early morning of Thursday April 5, 2018 in the care of Hopsice Georgian Triangle, also known as Campbell House in Collingwood from recent complications of cancer.
Prior to cancer complications he was diagnosed in 2010 with Dementia

He leaves behind his loving wife, Carol Haggan and 3 sons, Michael Miller, Nick Miller and partner Wanda Lemay and Brian Haggan and wife Benvinda Dias-Haggan, his 2 grandchildren Brandon and Michael, his 3 sisters Iris Orr, Edna Bakish and Joan Campbell and brother Lawrence Haggan residing in Belfast Ireland. He was preceded in death by his eldest brother William (Billy) Haggan and sister Betty Hill. Jim had his dog who he was very fond of named, “Charlie”

Born in Belfast, Ireland on February 7, 1940 where he lived to the age of 24 years old with his parents, William and Elizabeth Haggan. In his early years, Jim worked for Harland and Wolff, the shipyards in Belfast Ireland where the Titanic was built; in 1964 he came to Canada to work in the Collingwood Shipyards for many years before finishing his career with the Boilermakers for 33 years.

He was very much a sports enthusiast and bowled every Tuesday afternoon in Collingwood and enjoyed watching soccer, his favorite team was Manchester United and his favorite singer-performer was Neil Diamond attending numerous concerts over the years.

He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends!
