Obituary for Lorraine Johnston

Lorraine Johnston
Lorraine Isobel Johnston

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our remarkable mother, Lorraine Johnston, at her home in Collingwood, ON in her 78th year, having bravely defied cancer for over 15 years. Predeceased by her husband Roger (2002), and her sister Elinor (2007), she was a loving mother to daughters Sharon Johnston (husband Tom), Lynn Holroyd (husband Robert) and Heather Johnston and proud grandmother to Steven, Izabella and Lia.
Lorraine brought a positive energy to everything she did, from her loving involvement with her grandchildren to the tending of her beautiful gardens. In more recent years she also enjoyed the comradeship of The Hume St. Probus Club members and the Blue Mountain Promenaders square dancers. Lorraine will be greatly missed by family, her cherished friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. with a time for remembrances and memories at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 2nd at Blue Mountain Golf and Country Club to share stories and fond memories.
The family would like to sincerely thank Lorraine’s friends and neighbours that were so generous with their time as well as all of Lorraine’s caregivers. Special thanks to Glynis Miller, Shelley Kennedy-Johnston and Dr. Matthew Weisbrod for both their sensibility and their compassion. Donations may be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle in Lorraine’s memory.
