It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Dorothy Mary Mitchell peacefully at Bayhaven Retirement home in Collingwood on November 25, 2017 in her 91st year. She is predeceased by her devoted husband Fredrick William Mitchell, son Gordon William Mitchell and daughter in law Victoria (Vicki) Mitchell.
She is survived by her son Gary R Mitchell, daughter Beverley (Jim) Forrest, daughter in law Janis Mitchell, her seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Dorothy (nee Pearson) was born in Toronto, the youngest of 11 children. She served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was married in 1947, raising three children until 1972 when she and Fred moved to Wasaga Beach to enjoy retirement.
Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker who loved life and living it. Some of her favourite things were gardening, arts and crafts, bingo and singing in the church and with the local outreach singers.
A fun loving person she exemplified to her family the value of hard work, optimism, kindness, generosity and honesty. She will be missed, however knowing she is with our Lord and Saviour brings gladness to our hearts and peace to our souls.
