Margaret Arma Murch
November 11, 1922 - November 21, 2017
Born in Toronto, graduated from Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute in its 1st graduation class in 1941. Graduated from Toronto Western Hospital in 1944 with Medical Nursing prize. Married to Arthur Murch (educator) in 1945 and had 66 years together in happy marriage and wonderful friendship. Art passed in 2011. Together they had five children: Ron, Kerry, Tom, Paula and Bob; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Marg was an enthusiastic skier, swimmer and bridge player and worked in nursing for many years – hospital, Drs’. offices, VON and public health part time. Art and Marg travelled extensively including living in Germany for 2 years, while Art was principal for a D.N.D school. Marg was also a dedicated community volunteer, giving more than 50 years of service to the Canadian Cancer Society, and countless hours to the local Nurses’ Alumni and the United Church. In the spirit of being educators and helping others both Marg and Art requested that their bodies be donated to the U of T School of Medicine for research. Memorial donations may be made to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation. A service to honour and remember Marg will be held at Trinity United Church on Saturday March 3, 2018 at 1 p.m.
