Jadwiga T Lewandowska (nee Iwanowska)
April 23, 1937- November 6, 2017
Our dearest mother passed suddenly in Collingwood General & Marine Hospital this past Monday November 6th very peacefully. She will deeply be missed by her son Michael, daughter Joanne and her daughter in law Catherine and her beautiful grandchildren Elle, Jack and Sam. The family is happy that she is finally at peace with her late husband, Mark Lewandowski.

Jaga born in Poland, spent the war in Scotland and London. She attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin where she completed her medical degree. She emigrated to Canada with her young family in 1968. She quickly established her practice in Toronto and became a leader in Woman’s Health with the establishment of the Bay Centre for Birth Control. She was a pioneer for young female doctors determined to change health care in Canada. Jaga forged ahead with a teaching position at the University of Toronto, while remaining focused on helping others at all times. Determined to continue in the medical field, her focus shifted to psychotherapy later in her career. Mark and Jaga settled in Collingwood Ontario for their retirement, where they happily spent the balance of their years.

There will be a private service for Jaga, on Friday November 10 at Fawcett Funeral Home in Collingwood. For those wishing to make a donation as an expression of sympathy please consider the Alzheimer Society.
