Edwin Martin Trautrim
March 1, 1937 - September 18, 2017
Edwin Martin Trautrim, passed away peacefully at his home in Collingwood on Monday September 18, 2017 at the age of 80. Born in Lithuania to parents Martin and Ernestine Trautrim, Edwin was the youngest of 15 children. Married to Irmgard in 1961, they owned and operated with their children the Steddick Hotel in Elmira, the City Hotel in Waterloo, the Tin Roof Donut Shop in Kitchener and the Tremont Tavern in Collingwood.
Proud father of Peter (Joan), Erwin (Katharina), and Fred (Astrid). Much loved Opa of Nicole (Lyle), Erik (Kate), Hannah (Jesse), Alex, Amanda, Madaline, and Andrew and great-grandfather of Colm. Edwin will be sadly missed by his sister Lena (Kurt) Leisner, Meta (Guido) Urbani, brother Roland and his many nieces, nephews and their extended families. Edwin is predeceased by his brothers Heinrich, Alexander, Johann, Adolf, Walter (Else) and sisters Ruth (Herman) Preikschas and Emma Schillot.
Cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Henry Walser Funeral Home in Kitchener. Visitation at 12:00 p.m. Service at 1:30 p.m. followed with gathering of fellowship. Interment with family at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery will be at a later date.
A Celebration of Edwin's Life will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion – Collingwood. As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of your choice would be welcomed.
